Serving as the first show for the awards season, it seems as though the red carpet ensembles have to slowly progress leading up to the highly coveted, Oscars. With no surprise, the starlets seem to have taken a more casual approach last night. There were a few highs, a lot of lows, but more importantly, what the hell was with Adam Sandler’s acceptance speech?

At first glance, I really thought Jennifer Lawrence was a step away from a nip slip in this Viktor & Rolf dress. Pretty new to the red carpet scene, I feel like The Hunger Games star is trying to figure out her style. She just doesn’t look comfortable in this piece and everyone knows, confidence is key. Survey says: LOSE.

Yes, Ashley Greene. We know you were in Twilight. Classic case of art imitating life, but I think I’m too distracted by the VPL. Who dressed this girl, honestly? I feel like this look is something I would have attempted to wear to a dance….in junior high. Survey says: EPIC LOSS.

Always a sucker for fringe (and Marchesa), I instantly fell in love with Lea Michelle’s dress. The Glee star proves time and time again at how fashion forward she is. Much love for this look, with the exception of two small qualms. 1. The hem could have been 4 inches shorter to show off the gams. 2. Red lipstick would have complimented the dress better. However, Survey says: WIN.

While I love the sheer centerfront piece, that’s really the only nice thing I can say about Vanessa Hudgen’s floor length spider get up. Too dark, Too much, Too 1990s. Survey says: We aren’t all in this together, Hudgens. You lose.

Julianne Hough’s super low-cut back was by far a standout of the evening. Survey says: Easy WIN.

While I love the tucks running along the neckline, I’m left with several head-scratching questions. Who is this broad? Who is her stylist and when was this decided a good idea? Who designed this dress, Lady Gaga, circa three years ago? Survey says: Homegirl, one bow too many. L-O-S-E.

Much love for Miss Emma Stone. Why? She’s a great role model for young girls, never seen in the tabloids for being drunk/skanky/drugged out/etc. AND, she knows how to dress. Way to play up with red hair with a chic Gucci emerald green blazer. I love this color palette. Simple, Clean, but Innovative. AND, Stone makes pants look cool…..on the red carpet. Survey says: Crazy, Smart, Love. W-I-N!
